Rare in patients with Serum Calcium <3.0mmol/L

Possible complications

Renal stones, impaired renal function, nephrocalcinosis
Osteoporosis

Investigations

Serum calcium, phosphate, albumin, alkaline phosphatase. (Bone profile)
U&E, creatinine
PTH

When to refer to Endocrine clinic

  • Age <50 years
  • Serum Calcium >2.9mmol/L
  • Renal impairment (Serum creatinine above reference range).
  • H/O renal stones or nephrocalcinosis
  • Low BMD

    Follow up of those with uncomplicated mild hypercalcaemia

    6 monthly serum calcium & renal function


    Collecting 24 Hour Urine for Calcium
